Snow Canyon Half Marathon (13.3 Miles) 01:27:28, Place overall: 15, Place in age division: 3 | | Finally Snow Canyon came. This is one of my favorite races, mostly because of scenery. My original goal for this race was to run faster then I did at this race 2 years ago. But about a few weeks ago, I was looking at my workouts from 2 years ago and saw that I wasn't as fast now. So, I decided to go for a 1:30 instead. Angie stayed with me at my in laws condo and her sister was nice enough to drive us to the start. We found Merilee up there and we got some warm up in. I was feeling good, perfect weather today. I felt strong through the whole race and was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. Even though my time was 30 seconds slower then 2 years ago, I feel like this race was much smarter. I pushed through miles 9 and 10, which I usually struggle with in the half marathon. I pushed hard in the end and passed one more girl right at the finish, which i never do, coming in at 6:10 pace for the last .10. Splits were: 6:34, 6:52, 6:41, 6:22, 6:12, 6:18, 6:21, 6:42, 6:31, 6:29, 6:54, 7:01. The last two miles were the toughest and had a few rolling hills. AP 6:35 overall. 2 years ago miles 10-13 were all 7:16. Much better finish this time around. Good starting point for me. I typed this up on phone, hopefully this makes some sense. |

| | We had a big group this morning for our run. I dropped off a car with Alyssa at Peak Performance. We ran down from Mcdonalds in South Ogden to the Unitah trailhead and onto the Ogden Parkway. I ended up running my fastest long run so far this year. Janae, Cynthia, and Alyssa planned a long tempo run, I knew I couldn't keep up with them. Angie and Sariah were nice enough to run back with me. It still felt like a tempo run to me. I fell a few steps behind them for the last couple miles. I was happy with the effort though, I did 10 miles under 7:30 pace. AP for the 10 miles was 7:25. AP for the whole run 7:47.

| | Goal today: 6x1mile repeats@ 6:22, 2:30 jogging rest.
2 mile warm up
6:22, 6:18, 6:20, I accidently hit the stop button instead of lap/split on my 4th mile I missed the first .4. My last .6 was 3:40 (6:00min/pace), 6:17, 6:16. I was definately pushing hard those last two miles. After my 5th mile I wasn't sure that I would do one more, I'm glad I did.
2 mile cool down.

| | Goal today: 3-2-2 at 6:38
This was my first attempt at this type of workout. I say "attempt" because it didn't go very well, but I did try at least. The positive take away today is that I am now determined to conquer this workout. I'll try again another day.
Angie met up with me and paced me through the 3 mile set, she was helpful. I felt so heavy today the 3 miles felt really hard. Splits were: 6:36, 6:42, 6:53 took a break and did 2 miles 7:04, 6:45. I ended there. It felt hard and forced. Not the goal I wanted for today, but I'll keep at it.
