Ok, I'm glad I was able to go down and race. It had been a rough last 2 weeks with sickness. Feeling OK about the race and happy I placed first in my age group. I didn't have a lot of expectations going into the race, I thought I would try and keep the pace at around 6:30-6:35. I fell off the pace a little bit in miles 10-12, I need to work on that in my training. This was still an improvement from the Snow Canyon Half I ran in early November even though the time doesn't reflect that but this was a harder course. So hoping I can start stepping up my training in this next session.

The gun went off and I tried to keep it in the 6:30s here's splits for the first half,  6:24, 6:33, 6:26, 6:28, 6:29, 6:40, 6:43 miles 6 and 7 had some good uphill.Mile 8 6:35, mile 9 6:32. Then I got to complacent and let the next 3 miles slip away from me and didn't push like I should've, 6:52, 6:50, 6:54 This is the part of the race i need to work on I need to push through ALL miles. The last mile I woke back up, got back to 6:29, and ended up passing the girl that was in my age group for first.

Great race! good splits on the hills too. Like you said just gotta keep on it in the later miles. It'll come. You're making great progress.

Great job! This is a tough course, mile 9 and 10 are always the hardest for me in a half. I have to always focus hard on those miles.

Congrats! I think it was you I saw right at the finish chatting with Zac? Good to see folks on the blog that you see during the race.

Nice job Amy. Its tough to stay focused in those latter stages of a half. Nice job rebounding for the final mile. 10-12 will come with some more racing experience over longer distances.

Really great race Amy! That is some huge progress from Snow Canyon and you should be really proud of yourself. I have a feeling this will be a year full of breakthroughs for you.
